2010

My work is about the body, not simply in terms of the figure, rather, it is an investigation of the solidity of living flesh, where the mind, passion, culture, narrative and surroundings are as much a part of its glorious mechanism as its physical attributes.

Through my art I want to confront the viewer with a fundamental change of vision and take apart any fixed and certain viewpoint of our selves. Through its representation I want to dismantle the fragile barriers that we construct between the human and the non-human and allow the the body to once again imbue itself with its own mystery.

About Silverpoint

Silverpoint is an ancient drawing technique where a silver wire or stylus is dragged across a piece of paper that has been prepared with a particular ground to catch the metal, leaving sharp and delicate lines. Silverpoint is very time consuming as any dark areas of the drawing are built up gradually using cross hatching to enhance the tones. Silverpoint marks are permanent and once made, cannot be erased.
